INTRODUCTION:

In Reading, Berkshire, Kendrick School was established as a grammar school for females in 1877. It's regarded as one of the greatest secondary schools in the nation and has an amazing academic reputation, with females attaining remarkable exam results.

A broad and well-rounded curriculum that fosters a love of learning is taught to students at Kendrick School. Kendrick School assists other Reading-area schools with scientific instruction by serving as a hub school for the Scientific Leadership Partnership. The school receives acclaim from Ofsted for providing a 'first-class education in languages, humanities and a range of creative and practical topics', rating it as 'excellent' in all categories.

Girls at Kendrick School get an incredibly varied extracurricular education in addition to their academic education. With options in the creative arts, business and finance, dance and theatre, music, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), students are encouraged to participate in the many clubs and societies offered by the school.

ADMISSION GUIDELINES:

The results of the 11 Plus test decide a student's admission to Kendrick School in Year 7. Attending an open event is recommended if you are thinking about sending your daughter to Kendrick so she can learn more about the admissions process. For Year 7 spots, Kendrick School typically has an oversubscription situation. In this scenario, the school uses an oversubscription criterion.

Oversubscription Criteria:

  • Youngsters who currently are or were under care.

  • The applicant's kid is a Pupil Premium or Service Premium, and the student's permanent home address is located within the school's designated region.

  • The applicant's residence and the address of the parent(s) or caregiver(s) who make up the student's permanent home are both inside the school's assigned boundaries.

  • Pupils who reside outside of the school's approved neighborhood.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

The Local Authority's (LA) Common Application Form (CAF) must be completed by parents to express interest in a Year 7 spot at Kendrick School. Parents must apply separately and directly to the school to apply for the 11+ admissions test. Upon the opening of applications, the registration form can be filled out online. The school will take into account extraordinary circumstances if supporting documentation is presented, but parents should be aware that late applications are not going to be considered.

CATCHMENT AREA:

The catchment area of Kendrick Girls Grammar School is divided into; Priority Area 1 and Priority Area 2.

EXAM FORMAT:

The two papers that make up the Kendrick School 11 Plus test are created by GL Assessment and cover the following topics:

  • English

  • Mathematics

  • Verbal Reasoning

  • Non-Verbal reasoning (with components of Spatial Reasoning)

PREPARATION AND TARGET TEST SCORES:

All of the content examined, which covers an extensive selection of learning goals from the Key Stage 2 national curriculum and beyond, must be covered to properly prepare a child for the Kendrick School 11 plus exam. Revision can be started using a 'little and often' method, starting at least a year before the test, to allow for the steady development of the requisite skills and information. One should use caution while concentrating too much on subjects that are easy or difficult. The exam can ask questions that you have never seen before, therefore it's critical to be ready for anything unexpected. A child's motivation must also be sustained, which can be done by applauding their accomplishments and establishing regular goals.

To ensure that students born later in the school year are not at a disadvantage, your daughter's scores on the Kendrick School Admission Test will be age-standardized. Next, a rank order will be determined based on the total points. Since admission to Kendrick School is based on the year group's success percentage, there is no predetermined pass mark. The children who rank highest on the ranking list in terms of aggregate scores will have the most chance of being placed. A higher ranking on the list does not, however, ensure admission, as Kendrick School is consistently oversubscribed with deserving applicants.
